通过不同的体系或者计算，百货可以得到能量值如吸附能，活化能等等。然而大部分研究论文仍然集中在使用常规的表征对材料进行分析，全部一些机理很难被常规的表征设备所取得的数据所证明，全部此外有深度的机理的研究还有待深入挖掘。
